Oil Spill

We are alive to see one of the world's worst natural disasters - the BP Oil Spill off the Gulf of Mexico. Already the gusher has spewn more than twice the amount of the infamous Exxon Valdez Oil incident into the ocean. People are quick to point fingers at the President, as usual. But the truth is, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Take this as a wake-up call: our dependence on oil has gone far enough. We complain about the world's constant consumption of oil, its effect on the environment, the anticipation of the eventual irreversible complete drainage of oil entirely. What will we do? To what source will we turn? It's time to really start entertaining ideas like windpower, solar power, and hydrogen-based energy sources. Now, I don't claim to be an expert on any of these sources, or on oil, and certainly not the spill. But I know ruin when I see it. We can't afford another blunder that results in crisis. We can't afford to ruin this earth further. We may as well quit while we're ahead and get to work on figuring out an alternative energy source while we still can.
